Clues are projected onto the ceiling which is novel, but there’s no sound notification when they appear so they’re easy to miss.ĥ/10There was a great start to this game, where we were all put in a Houdini type situation which we had to escape from. It’s filled with things like playing cards, wooden stocks and posters. It’s quite a small room but it’s been segregated in a clever way to maximise the space. Plus the attention to detail was lacking in places, like with the CCTV cables and trunking which were plonked haphazardly on the walls and hanging off in places. There aren’t many magic themed escape rooms so Houdini is a great idea, but the seemingly low budget meant it wasn’t able to reach its full potential. music, smoke, more magic tricks etc.ĥ/10 Although it’s relatively new, this is a traditional ‘first generation’ type of room with lots of padlocks and its theming towards the basic end of the scale. The room itself was simplistic with some good props, but I felt a lot more could have been done to link the theme i.e. There was no real brief before the game which was disappointing as most Deadlocked games in particular Merlin are so strong on theming. £14-20 per person depending on team size and ageĥ/10Whilst the company added memorabilia around the room for Houdini, I never really understood why we were in this room trying to escape. ![]() ![]() You and your team are taken on a tour of the workshop and are given the opportunity to test yourself against the great man’s skill.
